Quds Day in a Time of Storm: The Zionist Threat Is Not Limited to Palestine.
An Iraqi analyst and political activist sent a note to the Mehr News Agency International Group on the occasion of Quds Day, the full text of which follows:
By declaring the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day, Imam Khomeini (may Allah be pleased with him) sought to revive the capabilities of the Islamic world to form a broad front against Zionism and provide the necessary grounds for the liberation of Palestine and the eradication of the cancer of occupation so that peace can be established in the region. Various interpretations have been offered of this historical initiative, but what is truly interesting is that Imam Khomeini (may Allah be pleased with him) called this day “the day of the life of Islam.”
Operation “Al-Aqsa Storm” showed in its form, content, and results that popular awakening for Palestine is increasing, even in the West, despite the efforts of regional governments to normalize relations and create despair and doubt among nations. This operation confirmed that the Islamic world has taken the initiative of Quds Day and its message seriously, and for this reason, it has faced a large amount of distortion and misleading propaganda.
The emergence of Islamic awakening in the region was one of the first tangible results of Imam Khomeini’s (RA) unique movement and strategy in outlining the true status of Quds and transforming it into a global symbol, in a way that did not allow the issue of Quds to remain only within the borders of Palestine. Over the past years, the impact of Quds Day and the Palestinian resistance, the spread of anti-Zionist sentiment (and not anti-Semitic, as the Zionists are trying to distort public opinion), and the support of scholars for Palestine have been proven.
Imam Khomeini (RA) considered Quds Day to be the day of liberation of Muslims from the captivity and slavery of the great powers, and always emphasized in his speeches the uprising of nations and the liberation of Palestine. Despite the years of wars and sanctions imposed on Iran, Imam Khomeini’s (RA) compass never deviated from Quds and continued to insist on its liberation and support.
Imam Khomeini (RA) called for the establishment of a global party for the liberation of Palestine and in his speech on International Quds Day said that “I wish that a party called the Party of the Oppressed be formed all over the world and that all the oppressed of the world join it so that the problems and obstacles to progress are removed from their path. The oppressed must rise up against the arrogant powers and colonialists of the East and West and not allow oppression to continue. Through this movement, they will achieve the fulfillment of the promise of Islam that has promised the inheritance of the earth to the oppressed.”
The oppressed have always been scattered, and no step can be taken without unity. Today, an example of the unity of the oppressed has been achieved in one of the Islamic countries and this model should be expanded to other human societies. This will be possible through the formation of the “Party of the Oppressed,” which is practically embodied in “Hezbollah,” a party that is in line with the divine will and the promise of the Quran for the inheritance of the earth by the oppressed.
Imam Khomeini (RA) described the great mistake of Muslims that led to the creation of the Israeli regime as follows: The mistake that all Muslims, and especially the Arab states and nations, made was to allow Israel to exist from the very beginning. The personal interests and ambitions of the states prevented the destruction of Israel in the early stages of its formation, and this allowed this regime to gain the necessary strength to confront it. Unfortunately, the personal interests of the Arab leaders prevented them from sincerely accepting our advice, which was presented about twenty years ago, which called for unity and solidarity against Israel.
