A poll conducted by Politico magazine showed that a large percentage of Americans, Britons, French and Germans believe that World War III will likely break out within the next five years.
According to the poll, 46% of respondents in the United States, 43% in Britain and France, and 40% in Germany believe that World War III could begin within this time frame.
These percentages represent a significant increase compared to a similar survey conducted in 2025.
The poll also found that at least a third of respondents in the US, UK, France and Canada believe that the use of nuclear weapons in a potential conflict is likely within the next five years.
The survey was conducted between February 6th and 9th, 2026, and included 10,300 people from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.
