Republican Congressman: Focus on America, not Ukraine and Israel.
According to Newsweek, the Georgia Republican criticized Trump for his planned meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, writing in a post on Platform X: “Today Zelensky, tomorrow Netanyahu, can we just focus on America?”
Trump met with Zelensky in Palm Beach, Florida, yesterday to discuss peace and an end to the war, and is scheduled to meet with Netanyahu again on Monday as part of his diplomatic efforts to resolve international conflicts.
Newsweek reported on the significance of Green’s criticism: The Republican, once a staunch Trump ally, has stopped supporting him after falling out over several issues, including the Jeffrey Epstein case and the president’s foreign policy positions. Trump now calls him a “traitor.”
According to the American publication, with the beginning of the second Trump administration, Washington has become more involved in international conflicts and has focused on ending the two wars in Ukraine and Gaza. Meanwhile, Green has always opposed military aid to Ukraine and Israel.
Green criticized the Trump administration earlier this year for signing an agreement with Ukraine to finance the war in exchange for minerals and described Zelensky as a “dictator” who canceled the election. He is also the first Republican figure in the US House of Representatives to call the humanitarian crisis in Gaza a “genocide”.
The US Congressman announced last month that he would resign from Congress, stating that after the disagreement with Trump, he did not want to play the role of a “battered wife” and that he respects himself.
Green’s last day in Congress is January 5, 2026 (January 15), after which a special election will be held in the Georgia constituency.
