Republican Trump supporter criticizes government: “It has let us all down.”

In an interview with the network, the Republican member of the House of Representatives spoke out on issues like the government shutdown and support for the release of documents from the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal, parting ways with Trump and Republicans.

“There’s something you probably don’t know about me. I think a lot of people on the left are starting to realize that when I ran for Congress in 2020, I criticized Republicans and Democrats alike because I come from a working-class family, I ran a construction company for over 20 years, and I feel like the government has let us all down, and that really disgusts me,” Greene added.

He went on to criticize House Speaker Mike Johnson for the weeks-long shutdown of the legislative body during the government shutdown, saying, “The worst thing I can’t deal with is that we’re not working right now, and I take that criticism directly to the speaker. We should be working.”

The Republican member of the House added, “It’s a shame to me that we’re not in session and we’re getting paid,” adding that he himself is not getting paid.

ABC News noted that the government shutdown on Tuesday, which reached 35 days, marked the longest shutdown in US government history and still shows no sign of stopping. The second-longest shutdown was also during Trump’s first administration.

One of the reasons for the government shutdown is the bipartisan dispute over cutting government subsidies for Obamacare. Senate Democrats have blocked the temporary funding bill to extend Obamacare premium subsidies, which are set to expire this year, 14 times, and Green is one of the few Republicans standing with Democrats to demand an extension of the health care subsidies.
