PNN – The Reuters news agency quoted four informed sources and wrote, it is expected that during today’s meeting between the current ruler of Syria, Ahmed al-Shara, known as Abu Muhammad al-Julani, and the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the parties will discuss a joint defense agreement, including the establishment of Turkish air bases in the center of Syria and the training of the country’s new army.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Reuters wrote that a Syrian security official, two foreign security sources based in Damascus and a senior intelligence official from one of the countries in the region provided this information to this media on condition of anonymity.
These sources said that according to this agreement, Turkey will build new air bases in Syria and take over the use of this country’s airspace for military purposes and the training of the new Syrian army.
According to these sources, this agreement is not expected to be finalized Tuesday.

A regional intelligence official, a Syrian security official and a foreign security source based in Damascus said the talks would include the establishment of two Turkish bases in the central Syrian Desert known as Badia.
A well-informed official in the Syrian presidency also told Reuters that al-Sharaa will discuss with Erdogan about the training of the new Syrian army, as well as new areas of cooperation and the deployment of Turkish forces. He did not name the possible deployment points of Turkish forces.
A senior intelligence official from a regional country, a Syrian security official and a Damascus-based foreign security source said the bases in question would allow Turkey to defend Syrian airspace in the future in the event of a possible attack.
This regional intelligence official said that Turkish bases are likely to be established at Palmyra military airport and T4 base of the Syrian army in Homs province.
The official said that Ankara wants to send a message to Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria by creating these bases.
An informed official in the Turkish Ministry of Defense also told Reuters that the military delegations of Turkey and Syria last week exchanged views on the possible areas of cooperation in defense and security issues, especially in the joint fight against terrorist organizations, and will continue these meetings.
