PNN – Reuters, citing sources familiar with US intelligence assessments, wrote in a report that Donald Trump’s claim that Iran will soon acquire a missile that can target US soil has not been confirmed by US intelligence reports and appears to be exaggerated.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the English news agency Reuters reported, citing informed sources, that the US President’s claim about Iran’s ability to target US soil was not reflected in US intelligence reports, casting doubt on his argument for a possible attack on Iran.
In his “State of the Union” address to Congress on Tuesday night local time, Donald Trump attempted to present his argument for a possible attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran to the American people by claiming that Tehran was “working on missiles that will soon reach the United States.”
But Reuters reported, citing two sources, that no changes have been made to the US Defense Intelligence Agency’s (DIA) unclassified 2025 assessment, which claims Iran may need until 2035 to develop an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from its existing space launch vehicles (SLVs).
The sources, who asked not to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter, said they were not aware of any US intelligence assessment that Iran was developing a missile with a range that could soon reach US territory; however, they did not rule out the possibility of a new report that they were unaware of.
This is while Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai previously emphasized: What is being claimed about Iran’s nuclear program, Iran’s intercontinental ballistic missile, and the number of deaths in the January unrest is nothing more than the repetition of a series of big lies. No one should be deceived by such lies.
These claims have been made while Iranian and American representatives are negotiating over Tehran’s nuclear program. The most difficult and intensive round of Iran-US negotiations took place in Geneva on Thursday, while the atmosphere there shows that the negotiations are moving forward and we should watch for new developments in this regard.
