On the other hand, Al Jazeera Qatar also reported that Rubio said that the US government intends to review the criteria for reviewing and issuing visas for Chinese and Hong Kong applicants.
Rubio’s comments about tightening visa requirements for Chinese students come two days after the Politico news website reported on June 26 that the Trump administration had suspended the process of scheduling interviews for student visas in order to monitor users’ social media activity.
According to the report, the US State Department has instructed all its embassies and consulates around the world to refrain from scheduling new student visa interviews until further notice. This action is being taken in order to prepare the necessary infrastructure to implement the new control policies.
