Venezuela

PNN – The US Secretary of State announced that his country is seeking to limit the presence of China, Russia, and Iran by pressuring Venezuela.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, TASS, Marco Rubio said regarding Washington’s efforts to reduce the presence of China, Russia, and Iran in Venezuela: For the first time in 20 years, we are having serious discussions about weakening and eliminating the presence and influence of these countries in Caracas.

He added: In fact, we should remember that there are many elements in Venezuela who welcome establishing relations with the United States on various fronts.

Rubio went on to acknowledge that Washington could not carry out such activities as long as the kidnapped Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was in Caracas.

The US Secretary of State also claimed that Venezuela was “one of Russia’s main bases” in the Western Hemisphere, along with Cuba and Nicaragua.

Rubio’s comments come as Reuters news agency, citing four informed sources, wrote in a report: According to US intelligence reports, Washington is skeptical that Venezuela’s interim president will cooperate with the Trump administration to formally sever ties with Washington’s enemies. Carrying out this US order would mean Venezuela abandoning its extra-regional allies.

On the morning of Saturday, January 3, 2026, Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, along with the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira, were the scene of attacks by American forces, which resulted in the deaths of a number of civilians.

The Venezuelan government called the move a “military invasion.” Russia, Iran, and a number of countries also condemned the US move.

Shortly after the attack, US President Donald Trump announced the kidnapping of Maduro and his wife.

After that, by a ruling from Venezuela’s Supreme Constitutional Court, Delcy Rodriguez, Maduro’s vice president, was named interim president of the country.
