Russia: America’s stance on Gaza has paralyzed the Security Council.
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the United States has paralyzed efforts in the UN Security Council to end the bloodshed in Gaza.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry announced on Monday that the United States would use its veto power in the UN Security Council to undermine international efforts to end the bloodshed in West Asia, despite dire warnings from the intergovernmental body’s own staff about civilian casualties. Shockingly, in Gaza, it uses

The ministry announced in a statement published on its website: “All UN representatives have jointly called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire that will end this inhuman collective punishment, the suffering of children, women and the elderly.” But thanks to the position of one country, the United States, the Security Council cannot implement its direct instructions and remains paralyzed.” Moscow added that Israel is fully obliged to comply with international laws in the Palestinian territories, including in Gaza.

The United States and its allies vetoed three resolutions, two sponsored by Russia and one sponsored by Brazil, which called for a cease-fire between Israel and the Palestinian resistance forces. Russia and China also voted against the alternative resolution presented by Washington.

The US has since called for a “humanitarian pause” in attacks on Gaza but has not supported a ceasefire, despite the killing of thousands of Palestinians, claiming it would benefit Hamas.

More than 11,000 Palestinians, including a large number of children and women, have been martyred in the Zionist regime’s attacks on Gaza since October 7. Human rights groups warn that shortages of food, fuel, and basic necessities are worsening the dire situation in Gaza.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres last week described Gaza as a “children’s cemetery” and said: “The ongoing tragedy in Gaza increases the need for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza every hour.”

In a joint statement on Sunday, several UN agencies reiterated the call for an immediate end to hostilities, adding that decisive international action is needed to ensure an immediate humanitarian ceasefire to prevent further casualties and preserve what remains of the health care system in Gaza.
