Russia: The current situation in the Middle East is a direct result of Israel’s aggressive policies.
According to Sputnik, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced on Wednesday that “the situation in the Middle East continues to deteriorate, and the escalation has spread to Lebanon and other neighboring countries; and this situation is a direct result of Israel’s policies.”
In an interview with the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper, Lavrov said: “The situation in the Middle East continues to deteriorate. The current round of the Palestinian-Israeli confrontation has claimed tens of thousands of lives, and the armed conflict has spread to Lebanon and other neighboring countries. All this is a direct result of Israel’s aggressive military policy and Washington’s desire to monopolize mediation tasks and sacrifice collective decisions of the UN Security Council.
According to Lavrov, “The ceasefire agreement in Lebanon is a relief from the devastating situation in the Middle East. I would like to thank France and the United States for their mediation. Now, to ensure the security of Lebanese citizens and the return of refugees, it is of utmost importance to observe and implement the ceasefire.
