Russia: October 7 should not be separated from Israel’s long-standing oppression of the Palestinian people.
The representative of Russia in the United Nations called for attention to the operation of October 7 in the historical background of Israel’s atrocities against the Palestinian people in the Security Council meeting.

Russia’s representative to the United Nations, Vasiliy Nebenzia, at the Security Council meeting on Gaza, called for attention to the October 7 operation by Hamas in its historical context and Israel’s atrocities against the Palestinian people.

Nebenzia said in this meeting: “The events of October 7 should not be seen separately from the long and bloody history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which includes several decades of oppression, occupation, and numerous crimes against the Palestinian people.”

In addition, Russia criticized the actions of the United States and its allies to widen the scope of conflicts in West Asia. “Tensions in Gaza have been going on for 100 days now and there are no signs of abating,” the Russian representative said.

He added: “Furthermore, by attacking the Yemeni people, the United States and its allies have played a role in widening the conflict and spreading it to the entire region in violation of Article 2 of the UN Charter.”

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, on the 7th of October in response to more than seven decades of occupation of Palestine and nearly two decades of siege of Gaza and imprisonment and torture of thousands of Palestinians, began the operation known as Al-Aqsa Storm.

This operation was one of the deadliest attacks against this regime. Hamas fighters penetrated the occupied territories through the border fences at several points, attacked the villages, and besides killing a large number of Israelis, captured a number of them.

In response to this operation, the Israeli regime launched heavy attacks against Gaza and placed this area under a complete siege. More than 23,000 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children, have been martyred in these attacks so far.
