Russia: We support Syria to restore stability in Aleppo

PNN – The Kremlin spokesman called the situation in Aleppo an encroachment on Syria’s sovereignty and said: We support the authorities of this country to quickly restore order to this region and establish order.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from Ryanovsti, Dimitri Peskov said on Friday in response to a question about the situation around the city of Aleppo in Syria: Russia supports the establishment of order and stability in the region.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced on Thursday, December 8 that the country’s armed forces responded to the terrorist attack in Aleppo and Idlib provinces, and the terrorist group suffered heavy losses of equipment and manpower.

Oleg Ignasiuk, Deputy Commander of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria, also announced: The Syrian army, with the support of the Russian air force, killed more than 400 terrorists belonging to the Jabhat al-Nusra group, who had attacked the positions of the government forces in Aleppo and Idlib provinces.

According to the 2017 agreement between Iran, Russia and Türkiye as guarantors of the Astana peace, four safe zones were established in Syria (reduction of tension).

Three regions came under the control of the Syrian army in 2018, but the fourth region, which includes Idlib province in northwestern Syria, parts of Latakia, Hama and Aleppo provinces, is still in the hands of terrorist groups. And it is said that the control of this area is mostly in the hands of the terrorist group Tahrir al-Sham (Al-Nusra Front).

Reacting to reports about the peacekeeping group in Ukraine

The Kremlin spokesman also commented on the published reports that NATO intends to deploy a so-called “peacekeeping group” in Ukraine.

In response to the question whether Russia will allow the deployment of peacekeeping forces in Ukraine, Peskov said: The deployment of these forces is possible only with the consent of the parties to the conflict.

He stated: We have clear indicators that are necessary to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

It was Japan that blocked the peace talks

A reporter also asked the Kremlin spokesperson about Russia’s position regarding the Japanese Prime Minister’s statements and said: Does Moscow welcomes the conclusion of a peace treaty with Japan and does it envisage a real basis for realizing this?

This question was raised after the Prime Minister of Japan, Shigeru Ishiba, announced that despite the difficult situation in relations with Russia, Japan is still committed to solving the territorial problem and concluding a peace treaty.

In response, the Kremlin spokesman stated: Japan completely aligned itself with the unfriendly path of the collective Western countries, joined all Western sanctions and imposed restrictions on Russian companies; All of these are unfriendly measures that currently completely prevent any substantive action (to negotiate a peace treaty).

Peskov stated: Russia was not the initiator of limiting talks, but it was Japan.

Rejection of the accusation of interference in the Romanian elections

On Friday, the spokesman of the Kremlin denied the Western media’s accusation of meddling in the Romanian elections.

Peskov said in this regard: Russia did not interfere in the Romanian election processes and did not intend to interfere; all accusations are baseless.

According to the Russian media, the Romanian presidential election was held on November 24, 2024, which is held every five years.
