Russia: Western countries have double standards about Palestine

PNN – Russia’s ambassador and representative to the United Nations announced: Western countries have double standards regarding Palestine.

Vasily Nebenzia, Russia’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, said on Wednesday local time at the Security Council meeting about Palestine and the Gaza Strip: Members of the Security Council have no answers about the destruction of buildings and the killing of thousands of children in Gaza. The West treats Palestinians as second-class citizens.

Comparing the situation of Gaza and Ukraine, the representative of Russia said: “After two years of our special military operation in Ukraine, nightclubs are still active in Kiev, but how many entertainment centers are active in Gaza?” In fact, even asking this question is disgusting, because the residents of Gaza don’t even have a place to rest.”

Referring to the terrible situation of women and children in Gaza, the Russian ambassador to the United Nations said, “We are only witnessing unprincipled opportunists who turn a blind eye to any crime if political expediency demands it.”

The representative of Russia stated: A lasting ceasefire in Gaza is not only a moral obligation, but the only way to ensure and effective humanitarian response.

He considered the bombing of schools, hospitals, mosques, churches and infrastructure facilities in Gaza as a clear violation of the UN Security Council resolution and Article 25 of the UN Charter, and addressed the Western countries: “We have not heard a single word of condemnation from you.”

Nebenzia continued: Israel used the discord in the Security Council with the support of Washington to continue the war of ethnic cleansing in Gaza.

The representative of Russia added: Such a crisis in the Middle East is unprecedented in the past decades. We must think about the day after the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip and return to the peace process with the goal of establishing a Palestinian state within the borders established on June 4, 1967.
