PNN – The Russian ambassador to Canada stated that Ukraine has no prospects of joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Mehr News and TASS, Oleg Stepanov, Russia’s ambassador in Ottawa, reacted to a joint statement by Canada and Sweden by saying: Reading such sentences, we do not know whether to laugh or cry; the authors of this statement seem to live in a parallel world. In the real world, everyone knows that Ukraine has no future in NATO or the Euro-Atlantic framework.

He also claimed that Kyiv is using the war as a tool for profit and to sustain corruption, at the expense of Western taxpayers.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, in their joint statement, declared that “Ukraine’s future is in NATO” and emphasized their support for Kyiv against Russia.
Russia has stated that the expansion of NATO eastward, approaching its borders, was the cause of the war in Ukraine. One of Russia’s conditions for ending the war is Ukraine’s neutrality and ensuring that the country does not join NATO.
