PNN – After the United States vetoed a Security Council resolution on the situation in Gaza, Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations said: The situation will not change until Washington’s view of this crisis changes and they stop supporting Israel’s actions.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the TASS news agency, Vasily Nebenzia, Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, stated that resolving the situation in the Gaza Strip will not be possible in the near future unless the United States changes its position on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
After voting on a draft resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, which was once again vetoed by the US, he emphasized: Until Washington changes its view of the Gaza crisis and until multilateral diplomacy at the United Nations is seen as an obstacle rather than a vital tool, no progress will be made in the Middle East process.
The Russian representative, noting that the attack on Doha has discredited all claims regarding Israel’s readiness for a diplomatic resolution of the conflict, added: We urge our American colleagues to understand that the “quiet diplomacy on the ground” they speak of is being undermined by the concrete actions of their Israeli ally. The attack on Doha was in fact a blow to the very idea of reaching an agreement and discredited all claims about Israel’s readiness for diplomacy and agreements.

Vassily Nebenzia also called on the United States to reconsider its decision to deny visas to members of the Palestinian delegation during the high-level week of the UN General Assembly.

Washington was the only Security Council member to vote against the document. She emphasized that these events demonstrate the unwillingness of the Israeli leadership to return to the negotiating table.
According to reports, Israeli forces launched an offensive on September 16 with the aim of completely occupying Gaza. Israeli military officials announced that the army would continue its attacks on Gaza to destroy Hamas and free the hostages.
