Russian Foreign Ministry: No compromise on NATO deployment in Ukraine.
In an interview with Sputnik, he said: “Russia will not compromise on the deployment of NATO forces, offensive weapons in Ukraine, and Ukraine’s membership in NATO, because this is absolutely unacceptable.”
When asked which issues related to NATO Moscow is not willing to compromise on in the process of resolving the Ukrainian crisis, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister said: “Ukraine’s membership in the North Atlantic bloc, as well as the deployment of NATO military forces and offensive weapons on the territory of this country, are completely unacceptable for us. We have repeatedly spoken about this and explained our position; this is well known.”
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also recently announced that the deployment of Western military forces in Ukraine “under any guise and in any form” is unacceptable for Moscow.
Earlier, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that the so-called “Coalition of the Willing” had completed preparations for the deployment of forces in Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire.
Earlier, in response to a question about the possibility of deploying British troops and equipment in Ukraine, Starmer said that within the framework of the “Coalition of the Willing”, a political process with leaders and a military process with military planners have been formed, and they have been asked to develop military plans for the air, sea, land, as well as Ukraine’s own capabilities.
Meanwhile, Zakharova referred to the relevant group as a “coalition of warmongers” whose activities only confuse.
For Russia, Ukraine’s membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is a red line, and Moscow has repeatedly demanded that Ukraine permanently abandon joining the NATO military alliance.
According to IRNA, the war in Ukraine began as a result of the West’s indifference to Moscow’s security concerns about the expansion of the borders of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) military alliance. In response to the West’s disregard for its security concerns, Russia invaded Ukraine on March 25, 1402. During this time, the United States and NATO member states have fueled the war by sending extensive military aid to Kiev and have preferred confrontation over de-escalation by equipping Ukraine with heavy weapons. They have also imposed more than 30,000 sanctions on Russia.
