Russia’s warning to Trump; the threat of severing diplomatic relations with the United States still remains

PNN – The Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister of said that Moscow does not see any grounds for resuming strategic negotiations or arms control with the United States.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from Reuters news agency, “Sergei Ryabkov” while making these statements, noted that Russia is ready to listen to Donald Trump’s proposals to solve the Ukraine crisis. At the same time, he added that there is no simple solution to solve this problem.

Continuing his statement, Ryabkov emphasized: In case of confiscation of frozen assets of Russia or escalation of tensions by Washington over Ukraine, the threat of breaking diplomatic relations with the United States remains.

This Russian official added: We are very detailed, responsible and scrutinizing towards any idea presented by the countries in this field.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday congratulated Trump on his victory in the US election and praised his courage in dealing with an attempted assassination of a gunman in July. At the same time, the leader of the Kremlin emphasized that Moscow is ready to talk with Trump. He added: Trump’s statements about trying to end the war deserve attention.

Continuing his statement, Ryabkov emphasized: In case of confiscation of frozen assets of Russia or escalation of tensions by Washington over Ukraine, the threat of breaking diplomatic relations with the United States remains.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia also commented on Russia’s updated nuclear doctrine and said that in the event of a severe crisis in relations with the West and the situation in Ukraine, we may turn to the nuclear option.

He added: This process will be final. Undoubtedly, the President of Russia, as the supreme commander, makes decisions that will improve the conceptual foundations of our activities in this field.

In September, Putin warned the West that under proposed changes to the nuclear doctrine, Russia could use nuclear weapons in the event of a missile attack.

The United States and the Soviet Union signed a treaty in 1987. According to this treaty, the use of medium-range nuclear missiles, all nuclear and conventional missiles and their launch platforms were prohibited up to a distance of 500 to 1,000 km (short-range) and 1,000 to 5,500 km (medium-range). But US President Donald Trump announced in October 2018 that he would withdraw from the agreement due to Russia’s repeated violations of the agreement. Following this action, Russia also withdrew from the aforementioned agreement.
