PNN – The Reuters news agency reported that the man who stabbed Salman Rushdie, the renegade author of the Satanic Verses book, was found guilty of attempted murder.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Reuters wrote that the verdict of this American assailant, who also holds Lebanese citizenship, will be issued on April 23 and he may be sentenced to a maximum of 25 years in prison.
After attacking Salman Rushdie, Hadi Matar told the New York Post that he traveled to New York from his home in New Jersey after learning of Rushdie’s public program. He added that he did not like this novelist because he had attacked Islam.

According to Reuters, Matar is also facing charges of terrorism for Rushdi’s murder and material support for the Lebanese Hezbollah group.
The charges will be heard in a separate trial in Buffalo County.
Rushdi was stabbed and wounded on August 12, 2022, before giving a speech at Chautauqua Institute in New York.
An eyewitness at that time told the Associated Press news agency: This man (assailant) quickly went to Sen and started stabbing Salman Rushdie. This action took about 22 seconds.
According to the American police, Matar is 24 years old from Fairview, New Jersey.
During this attack, Rushdi lost one of his eyes and his intestines, liver and larynx were also wounded.
