Sanaa’s ready to release all prisoners.

Sanaa’s ready to release all prisoners/Saudi coalition is not serious.

According to al-Mayadeen, Abdul Qadir al-Mortaza, the head of Yemen’s prisoner affairs committee, emphasized that Sana’a is ready to release Saudi and Sudanese prisoners, a member of the aggressor Saudi coalition, provided that this action takes place within the framework of the prisoner exchange process.

He further added: In this process, the Yemeni prisoners should also be released by the Saudi coalition. The prisoner exchange process, which was signed in Switzerland, has been stopped due to the lack of seriousness of the Saudi coalition to implement it.

Al-Mortaza clarified: Sana’a agreed to the request of the Marib forces affiliated to the Saudi coalition regarding the investigation of the fate of Mohammad Qahtan, one of the leaders of Hizb al-Islah, and put his name on the list of prisoners of exchange, but in front of the Saudi coalition, with our requests regarding the Yemeni prisoners or visits He objected from Marib prisons.

He added: The United Nations has also acted poorly in this regard. In any case, Sana’a has Saudi and Sudanese prisoners and is ready to enter the process of exchanging all the prisoners.

Negotiations between the government of Sana’a and the government affiliated with the Saudi coalition in Yemen regarding the case of prisoners ended on June 18. These negotiations took place in the capital of Jordan under the supervision of the United Nations and the Red Cross, and during it, it was agreed to hold a new round of negotiations after Eid al-Adha and the exchange of prisoners, but these negotiations were not held.

In December 2018, the two sides released 15,000 prisoners as part of a prisoner exchange, and in October 2020, more than a thousand prisoners were exchanged.

Abdul Qadir al-Mortaza previously announced that Sana’a is ready to start the process of exchanging all prisoners with the other side, but we are witnessing the stone-throwing of the aggressor Saudi coalition in this direction.

He stated: The United Nations is also surprised by the actions of the mercenaries of the Saudi coalition in Marib. We are witnessing the kidnapping of hundreds of Yemeni people in Taiz, Marib, and Aden by mercenary elements of the Saudi coalition.
