Ahead of an informal summit of EU heads of state or government in Copenhagen, the Spanish prime minister addressed growing concerns about the safety of the flotilla, which is approaching Gaza and faces a high risk of interception by the occupying Zionist forces.

Pedro Sanchez told reporters: We must remember that this is a humanitarian mission that would not have been carried out if Israel had allowed UNRWA (the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees) to enter and distribute this humanitarian aid by the United Nations.

He then noted that Spain has deployed a naval ship to assist in emergencies and is coordinating closely with other countries involved in the mission.

Sanchez said: I have always told Israel from the very first minute that logically those compatriots who are in the fleets will have full diplomatic support, because it cannot be otherwise. They do not pose any danger or threat to Israel, and therefore I hope that Tel Aviv will not pose any threat to this fleet.
