PNN – A prominent U.S. senator has described Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the New York mayoral election as one of the greatest political upsets in the country’s modern history.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al Jazeera, Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders said that Mamdani’s election as mayor of New York marked one of the biggest surprises in contemporary American politics.

He added that he looks forward to working with Mamdani to build “a city that truly serves its people.”
Earlier, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer had also stated that the results of New York’s mayoral election represented a clear rejection of Donald Trump’s policies.
Zohran Mamdani, who is the first Muslim to be elected mayor of New York and a known critic of Trump, declared his victory following the election and announced that he will be formally sworn in as mayor in early January.
