Saudi Arabia: No normalization without a Palestinian state.
At the same time as Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with the US President at the White House, the Israeli TV channel 11 (KAN) quoted an Arab source close to bin Salman as saying that the meeting would pave the way for accelerating negotiations for agreements to normalize relations between the Israeli regime and Arab and Islamic countries.
The source added that Saudi Arabia remains committed to the establishment of a Palestinian state and the two-state solution. He explained: “We do not want to witness an attack on the Palestinians every five years.”
At the same time, a former Saudi general said in an interview with the Israeli TV channel 11 that his country would not allow normalization of relations with the Israeli regime without an agreement to establish a Palestinian state.
He said: “Without justice for the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders (the territories that the Israeli regime occupied in the Six-Day War of 1967 and that the UN considers illegal), there can be no normalization agreement or relations with Israel.”
Referring to Trump’s agreement to sell F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, the general stressed that any strategic military agreement between Riyadh and Washington must be guaranteed by the Americans and “must derive its validity from the approval and signature of Congress, so that it does not change with the change of presidents.”
These statements are being published at a time when Israeli officials have clearly stated that they will never allow the establishment of a Palestinian state.
