In the past months, Saudi Arabia has started efforts to normalize relations with Iran and has taken steps in this direction.
About a month ago, in an analysis, the British news agency Reuters described the reason for Saudi Arabia’s non-participation in the US-led naval coalition in the Red Sea as Riyadh’s unwillingness to disturb relations with Iran.
According to Reuters analysis, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have been trying to transform their regional politics by finding new partners for years due to their doubts about the long-term commitment of the United States to these two countries.
Saudi Arabia has taken the biggest step in this direction with the agreement that was brokered by China with Iran. The agreement was reached in February in Beijing.
In addition, the Saudis want to end their 9-year war in Yemen. According to Reuters, this war has now reached a deadlock, which has damaged the prestige of Saudi Arabia due to Yemen’s attacks on Saudi airports and energy bases, which has caused insecurity in the country.
