Saudi Arabia warns of the risk of Israel spreading war in the region.
According to the Lebanese newspaper Al-Nahar, Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan warned that the continued Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon is causing unprecedented levels of human suffering, pushing the region towards a wider war, and undermining the credibility of international law and institutions.
In his speech at the first G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, represented by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the head of the Saudi government delegation, he said: There is an urgent need for a ceasefire, unrestricted access to humanitarian aid, the release of Israeli prisoners, and a serious commitment to a lasting peace based on the two-state solution and the 1967 borders.
The Saudi Foreign Minister also added: The world is facing increasing tensions, military conflicts, and humanitarian crises, events that prevent the achievement of development goals, including the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Bin Farhan added: Development and prosperity cannot be built on the ruins of death and destruction.
