Saudi official: Saudi Arabia is looking to launch its nuclear program.
According to Sputnik, Adel al-Jubeir, a member of the Saudi Council of Ministers and Saudi Arabia’s representative for climate affairs, stressed that the country is working to launch its nuclear program to produce energy and convert uranium into atomic fuel.
He added: “The nuclear program will allow Saudi Arabia to sell nuclear fuel at competitive prices and strengthen its economic position.”
Al-Jubeir’s remarks were made at a session on the role of Saudi Arabia in the face of global environmental challenges on the sidelines of the annual Davos meeting.
He said: “As the largest energy producer in the world, Saudi Arabia intends to become one of the most prominent energy exporters in the world. We do not want to be a country for mining and transferring reserves abroad.”
Al-Jubeir continued: “This issue has nothing to do with nuclear weapons.”
