Schulz: Syrians who have integrated into German society can stay in the country.
According to Al Jazeera, traditionally, the countries of the North, including the developed Western countries, have been steadily attracting educated people and professionals from the South, including the developing countries, and have avoided accepting inefficient workers. This has now become evident in the case of Syrian refugees.
Accordingly, German Chancellor Olaf Schulz called for Syrian specialists to remain in his country.
He wrote on his page on the X social network (formerly Twitter): Many Syrians have now successfully integrated into German society. In the field of health care alone, nearly 5,000 Syrian doctors are now providing services in the country’s hospitals.
The message continued: Some comments in the country in recent days have offended citizens of Syrian origin. Therefore, what I want to emphasize today is that we welcome everyone who is working in Germany, everyone who is well integrated into our society, and Germany is their country. Although this goes without saying.
Schulz goes on to emphasize: “Some Syrian refugees hope to return to their country. When the conditions allow, we will support their return to their country.”
Germany is currently hosting more than a million Syrian refugees. Berlin is trying to attract educated and skilled people from among these refugees and to send the rest back to their country.
