SDF Commander: We are witnessing a security vacuum in Syria; Damascus must stop Turkish attacks.
According to Al-Mayadeen, Mazloum Abdi, commander-in-chief of the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), emphasized that the country has entered a new phase and that the Syrian people and international groups do not want to return to civil war or tensions.
He added: “We are witnessing security gaps and aggressions, as well as a chaotic economic situation in Syria.”
Regarding Turkey’s attacks on the northern and northeastern regions of Syria, Mazloum Abdi said: “There is a clear and major contradiction. The majority of Syrians are witnessing a cessation of hostilities, but our regions, such as the Tishrin Dam and Qarqazak, are witnessing ground and air attacks from Turkey.”
He stated: “The so-called national army forces supported by Turkey are attacking our positions. However, we are seeking to resolve this crisis through mediation. The responsibility for this action lies with the new rulers of Syria. They must stop Turkey’s attacks.
It should be noted that after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, Turkey, along with the Zionist regime, has repeatedly targeted Syrian territory.
