PNN – The Israeli army spokesman announced the death of one of its soldiers as a result of the accidental shooting of another soldier in the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, and announced that an official investigation into the details of the incident has begun.
According to Israeli Army Radio, initial investigations indicate that the incident occurred during a military operation in the area known as the “Yellow Line” and resulted from “insider gunfire.”
According to the report, two units from the paratrooper brigade were dispatched to carry out a routine mission involving inspecting and clearing buildings in the area.
The media outlet added: At around 2:00 AM, one of the two forces mistakenly identified the other unit as the opposing force and opened fire, resulting in one of the soldiers being seriously injured.
Subsequently, a medical evacuation team was dispatched to the scene of the incident, but the soldier died before being transported to the hospital.
This incident occurred while Israeli forces continue to violate the ceasefire between the Islamic resistance movement Hamas and the Israeli regime, which came into effect on October 10, and have not stopped artillery attacks, shootings, and the destruction of civilian homes in the Gaza Strip.
Safa News Agency also reported widespread shooting by the occupying regime’s military vehicles east of the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, along with artillery shelling east of Al-Bureij camp in the center of the area.
According to the news agency, this morning, the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip was targeted by heavy enemy artillery fire, while at the same time, areas east of Gaza City were also under fire.
Also, the occupation military vehicles opened fire east of Khan Yunis and near the Moraj axis north of Rafah.
