PNN – The European Union’s foreign policy chief claimed in remarks that in order to end the escalation surrounding Ukraine, Russia must make real concessions.

In an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, the EU foreign policy chief claimed that reaching a lasting agreement to end Russia’s war in Ukraine is impossible unless Russia changes its behavior and accepts clear limitations on its military power.
Kallas went on to claim: The problem with peace is Russia. Even if Ukraine receives security guarantees, but no concessions are made by Russia, we will have other wars, perhaps not in Ukraine, but elsewhere.
She further claimed that Russia still shows no “real willingness” to stop the war and continues its ongoing attacks on Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure.
Kallas said: For lasting peace, we must ensure that Russia does not attack again. We need concessions from Russia, whether that means limiting its army or restraining its military budget. There must be no territorial concessions and no recognition of the occupation of Ukrainian territory. Borders cannot be changed by force. There should be no element in Europe’s security architecture that gives Russia a direct role.
