Senior Iranian Security Official to Russia Today: Our Finger Is On The Trigger.

According to Russia Today, a senior security official in Tehran, referring to the recent aggression by the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran, emphasized that Tehran has its hand on the trigger.

Last month, the Zionist regime’s army targeted Iranian military and nuclear facilities, as well as civilian centers, and martyred senior commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians.

Tel Aviv claims that these attacks were carried out to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, a claim that Tehran strongly denied,, and in response to these aggressions, targeted the heart of Tel Aviv with ballistic missiles and drones. Shortly after, the United States joined the Zionist aggression campaign against Iran and bombed a number of the country’s nuclear facilities. The 12-day war between Iran and Israel entered a ceasefire with the intervention of the United States on June 24.

Russia Today quoted the senior Iranian security official, who did not want to be named, as saying: “If compensation for the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities is paid and the Zionist regime is not punished, Iran is ready to take steps to restore its historical deterrence against this regime.”

Referring to the US request to resume nuclear talks with Iran, he stressed that Tehran has not agreed to a permanent ceasefire and considers the talks ill-considered. He clarified, “The Americans are seeking to start talks, but Iran is in a temporary state of cessation of hostilities.”

Washington has demanded a complete halt and dismantling of Iran’s uranium enrichment program, a condition that Tehran has strongly rejected and described as a red line. Tehran has always insisted that Iran’s nuclear program is “peaceful, legal, and under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.”

Indirect talks between Iran and the US began earlier this year but were halted by Israeli attacks as Tehran prepared for the sixth round of negotiations in Muscat. Tehran has since accused Washington of abandoning diplomacy and resorting to haste.

The senior security official also warned that Iranian forces remain fully prepared to respond to any further aggression, noting, “Our hand is on the trigger, but in case of any miscalculation by the child-killing regime, this time we will not wait for the enemy to fire the first shot.” The US must rein in its proxy force in the region.
