Senior member of Hamas: We are ready to cooperate to implement the ceasefire agreement

PNN – Mahmoud Mardawi, one of the leaders of the Hamas movement, responded to the approval of the Security Council’s draft resolution on Gaza on Tuesday morning, saying that the movement is ready to cooperate for the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

According to Pakistan News Network’s report from Sama Palestine news agency, Mardawi added: We welcome the resolution passed by the Security Council regarding the ceasefire in Gaza and we are ready to cooperate with the mediators to implement it.

In an interview with Al Arabi TV, he said: The mediators should get a public commitment from the occupying regime regarding the ceasefire so that we can enter into negotiations.

This senior member of Hamas also said that America should be the guarantor of the agreement reached.

A resolution to be approved in the Security Council needs 9 votes out of the 15 members of this council without opposition or veto from its permanent members, including the United States, Russia, England, China and France.

In this 7-point resolution, it is stated that the resolution proposed by the United States reminds all relevant resolutions regarding the situation in the Middle East, including the issue of Palestine, and emphasizes the importance of the continuous diplomatic efforts of Egypt, Qatar and the United States with the aim of achieving a comprehensive ceasefire agreement including three stages.

It is stated in this resolution: It welcomes the new ceasefire proposal announced on May 31, which Israel accepted, and asks Hamas to accept it as well, and asks both sides to fully implement its terms without delay and without restrictions.

This resolution notes that the implementation of this proposal can have the following results in three stages.

The approved resolution emphasizes the importance of the parties adhering to the terms of this proposal after the agreement and asks all member states and the United Nations to support its implementation.

The resolution rejects any attempt to change the population or territory in the Gaza Strip, including any measures that reduce the territory of Gaza.

On May 31, 2024, on the eve of the elections on November 5 this year, US President Joe Biden announced that Israel presented a new proposal to establish a ceasefire and exchange prisoners, which was presented to Hamas through Qatar, and called on the parties not to miss this opportunity and Agree on this proposal.

The democratic president of the United States of America, who is under pressure from international institutions and global public opinion inside and outside the United States because of his support for Israel in the current war in Gaza, stated: Israel’s new proposal is a road map for a lasting ceasefire and the release of all hostages.

On May 26, the Israeli army also killed at least 41 Palestinians, including women and children, and wounded dozens of others, with an attack on the refugee camp in Rafah city in the south of the Gaza Strip under the pretext of destroying Hamas, which has caused international concern because it worsens the situation in the Gaza Strip.

According to the latest statistics of the Gaza Ministry of Health, the number of martyrs of the Israeli war in Gaza since October 7, 2023 has reached 36 thousand 586 people and the number of wounded has reached 83 thousand 74 people.
