PNN – Gennady Gatilov, the permanent representative of Russia at the UN headquarters in Geneva, said: Europe is reaching the conclusion that Russia cannot be defeated.
According to Pakistan News Network’s report from the “Tass” news agency, this Russian official added in his speech on the occasion of the New Year in the Telegram account of the Russian delegation: We clearly feel that they are coming to a simple understanding in Europe and in international Geneva that in the fight for a just cause, Russia and its spirit cannot be defeated.
He continued: Our detractors must come to terms with this reality, and we, in turn, will remind them of this reality from the platforms of the United Nations.
The representative of Russia refers to the continuous help of the West to Ukraine for the country’s victory in the war with Russia.
On February 21, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin, criticizing the West’s indifference to Moscow’s security concerns, recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics in the Donbas region.
Three days after that, Putin launched a military operation, which he called “special operations”, against Ukraine, thus turning the tense Moscow-Kiev relationship into a military confrontation, and this war is still ongoing.
Ukraine’s summer counterattack at the end of 2023 did not bring much results, and now despite Ukraine’s fatigue and the unwillingness of Western countries to support Kiev, a long war should be expected. The European Union countries have pledged to provide Ukraine with about one million artillery shells by the end of next year, and despite the fact that the war has turned into a war of attrition, it seems unlikely that this promise will be fulfilled.
