Sharjah, UAE, in solidarity with Gaza, banned New Year’s celebrations

PNN – The authorities of the Emirate of Sharjah of the UAE have banned any celebrations and demonstrations of joy on the occasion of the New Year in solidarity with the people of Gaza.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Emirate of Sharjah Police announced in a statement that any kind of fireworks and demonstrations of joy on New Year’s Eve are prohibited in solidarity with the people of Gaza.

According to the Khaleej Online news website, the Sharjah Police statement states: All institutions and individuals must cooperate with this announcement and be bound by it. Sharjah Police emphasized that they will take legal action against anyone who violates this order.

At the end of this announcement, it is stated: “Human solidarity is part of the deep-rooted culture and thought of the Emirate of Sharjah”.

Jawaharlal Qasimi, the wife of the Emir of Sharjah, also donated 30 million dirhams (equivalent to 8.2 million dollars) to the Palestinian people, especially the people of Gaza, and asked the Emirati citizens, institutions and organizations to contribute to providing the essential needs of the people of Gaza.

In addition to Sharjah, this year some singers and groups in Arab countries have also canceled their year-end programs. In Jordan, the Union of Artists announced that New Year’s celebrations are irrelevant in the situation where the people of Gaza are under bombardment.

“Mohammed Youssef Al-Abadi”, the head of the Jordanian Artists’ Union, has also said that no permission will be given to hold concerts and celebrations this year.

Some Iraqi churches have also announced the cancellation of the end of the New Year celebrations. The Lebanese singer “Ragheb Allameh” has also said that he will cancel his concerts in Canada and postpone them to another time.

The programs of the famous Egyptian singer “Shirin Abdel Wahab” in Lebanon have also been canceled. Another Egyptian singer, “Mohammed Munir”, along with several other groups, have said that instead of canceling the concerts, they will consider all the financial proceeds for the people of Gaza.
