PNN – Al-Azhar’s Grand Imam said during a meeting with the Italian ambassador to Egypt that the genocide and crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza have reached a level at which neutrality is no longer possible.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al Jazeera, Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, stated that the Palestinian issue has reached a dangerous stage of injustice that makes it impossible to remain “neutral.”
In his meeting with Agostino Palese, Italy’s ambassador to Egypt, he referred to the absence of genuine international will to implement the two-state solution and said there is no difference of opinion regarding the Palestinian cause, as it has reached such levels of injustice, aggression, and abandonment of all civilizational, religious, human, and moral values that neutrality cannot be accepted.

Al-Tayeb pointed to the killing of children and innocent civilians, saying the situation has reached a point where people have no choice but either to oppose these crimes or to participate in and be complicit in these humanitarian catastrophes.
He added that many martyrs have been lost in this unjust and oppressive Israeli aggression, which cannot be described as a war but rather as genocide carried out by an army equipped with the most powerful weapons against a defenseless people.
The Grand Imam noted that the two-state solution has been discussed for more than a quarter of a century without any international will to bring it into effect.
He stressed that the international arena, after long being accustomed to endorsing the occupiers’ narrative through false propaganda and media mechanisms that promoted their claims, has witnessed a significant shift, as people in Western countries have taken to the streets to condemn the crimes in Gaza and accuse the occupiers of committing crimes against humanity.
During the meeting, Al-Tayeb specifically praised Italian port workers who refused to load ships carrying weapons for the killing of civilians in Gaza, describing their stance as humanitarian and a reflection of a living conscience and genuine humanity.
