Shia al-Sudani: We will not allow threats or aggression from Iraqi territory to our neighbors

PNN – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani emphasized in his meeting with the Turkish President that we will not allow Iraqi territory to be invaded or threatened against its neighbors.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing the statement of the Iraqi Prime Minister’s office on Thursday, in a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Mohammad Shia al-Sudani demanded the security of Iraq’s borders with Turkey in accordance with the mechanism that Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran have taken to secure their common borders.

On the sidelines of participation in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Al-Sudani and Erdogan discussed bilateral relations and also the results of the meetings of the committees formed to implement the memorandums concluded during the last visit of the Turkish president to Baghdad.

In this meeting, the Prime Minister of Iraq, while emphasizing the importance of joint work and effort and coordination regarding the “Development Road” project of Iraq, explained how to follow up on the results of joint agreements and memorandums.

Referring to the policy and approach of the government to reduce the pending cases to zero and resolve the situation of the common borders based on the mechanism that was considered to ensure the security of the common borders of Iran and Iraq, he emphasized: We will not allow any aggression or threats against neighboring countries from Iraqi territory.

In this meeting, the Prime Minister of Iraq emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination between Islamic countries in the framework of efforts to achieve a single position in order to prevent aggression and stop the genocide of the Palestinian nation and the recent attacks on Lebanon.

In this meeting, the President of Turkey emphasized his country’s support for the development of economic partnership with Iraq, cooperation in the fight against terrorism and participation in development projects in accordance with the principles of good neighborliness and goodwill in the interaction between the two neighboring countries.

Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan also welcomed Iraq’s actions and steps in supporting the stability of the region, on the importance of the activity and mobility of all Islamic countries and mobilizing positions to stop the war and aggression against Palestine and Lebanon and prevent it from becoming the starting point of new wars in the region.
