Shocking statistics and details of the situation of Palestinian prisoners.

Shocking statistics and details of the situation of Palestinian prisoners.

According to Al Jazeera, the International Foundation for Solidarity with Prisoners (Tazaman) announced that the total number of Palestinian prisoners in the prisons of the Zionist regime reached 9844 people as of September 1 of this year.

This figure does not include thousands of captives, who are still being forcibly held in secret as attacks against Gaza continue.

This foundation has provided extensive statistics on the number of arrests, their types, age groups, and areas of arrest. According to the Palestinian Prisoners Club, the number of arrests in the West Bank from October 7 last year to September 12 has reached 10,700.

Also, according to the announcement of the Zionist Prisons Administration and the Ministry of Internal Security of this regime in early April, the capacity of the prisons for Palestinian prisoners is 14,500, while the actual number of prisoners is more than 21,000.

The foundation also announced that the number of administratively detained prisoners has reached 3,323, among whom there are 25 women, including 4 journalists. In addition, 41 children and 24 journalists are among those detained.

Also, after October 7, the number of administrative arrests reached 8872 cases, which included new orders and extensions of previous orders, and these orders included even children and women until September 12.

In addition, 2,848 Palestinian prisoners are awaiting trial and 2,061 have been sentenced. Also, 3,600 people have been forcibly kept hidden, and 1,612 Gazan prisoners have been recognized as “illegal fighters” by the Zionist regime.

The agency announced that 290 children under the age of 18 are in prison, of which 94 are held in Mejdo prison and 24 of them are from Gaza. Also, 40 children have been administratively detained.

The number of children arrested in the West Bank from October 7 to September 12 has reached 730, and 400 women have been arrested since October 7.

This foundation, citing centers and institutions responsible for prisoners’ affairs, announced that 578 Palestinian prisoners were sentenced to life imprisonment (99 years). Among them are Abdullah Barghouthi with 67 life sentences and Ibrahim Hamed with 54 life sentences.

The foundation also pointed out that 592 Palestinian prisoners have been in prison for more than 20 years and 552 Palestinian bodies are still kept in the morgues of the Zionist regime. These bodies include young people, the elderly, children, women, and prisoners, who make up more than half of the captive martyrs since 2015, although this statistic does not include the Gaza martyrs.

It should be said that simultaneously with the attacks against Gaza, the Zionist army has intensified its attacks in the cities and regions of the West Bank, including the occupied Jerusalem, and has targeted Palestinians and their properties along with the settlers.
