Smotrich: The Gaza war is very difficult; Guterres was expecting Israel’s defeat.
According to Al Jazeera, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said in his latest comments on the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip: “I am completely opposed to any aid entering the Gaza Strip. Sending aid to 2.5 million people in Gaza is a difficult task.” Smotrich continued his speech by claiming: “Anyone who is affiliated with Hamas is doomed, and we must continue to destroy its military and civilian capabilities. At this time, moving towards a prisoner exchange agreement and allowing Hamas to revive itself is a mistake. I asked the army commanders what logic Hamas has in remaining after a year and a half of war. I call on Netanyahu and Ron Dermer (Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs) to stand firm, maintain military pressure, not retreat, and not think about agreeing with Hamas.” Acknowledging that the Gaza war is very difficult and exhausting, he stated: “Implementing martial law in Gaza will cost hundreds of millions of dollars, and this is a futile measure. The war cannot continue forever, and there are international and domestic pressures on us due to the reserve forces and the economy. But we have the power to fight in Gaza for years, as we have fought in the West Bank.”
This extremist minister of the occupation regime also said: “History will not forgive anyone who leads Israel to elections during the war, because this will lead to our defeat in the war. It is important that we do not overthrow the right-wing government and do not hold elections during the war, because this is a threat to the future of Israel. I am not like Lieberman to reveal Israel’s secrets.”
In another part of his speech, Smotrich emphasized: “The Palestinian Authority (compared to Hamas) is our weaker enemy, but together with South Africa, it is trying to prosecute us in international courts.” I want the cabinet to pass a law that considers the PA as an enemy. The PA is a political danger to Israel, and we must work to collapse it.
He also attacked the UN Secretary-General, saying: “The anti-Semite Guterres was eagerly awaiting the defeat of Israel and the victory of Hamas.”
