Somali Defense Minister: Trump should focus on American citizens, not insult Somalis.

According to Al-Mayadeen, Ahmed Muallem Faqi Ahmed, in response to US President Donald Trump’s statements against the people of his country, added: “The Somali people will never accept insults, and Trump should focus on fulfilling his election promises to the American people instead of getting busy with Somalia.”

Referring to the characteristics of the people of this country, the Somali Minister of Defense added: “Somalis are known around the world for their hard work, resilience, and ability to endure hardships.”

He stated: “They have faced great hardships and hostility, including from those who deny their existence, humiliate and kill them, and insult them, but they have overcome all of this and survived.”

Donald Trump on Tuesday criticized immigration from third-world countries again during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, saying: “We always bring people from Somalia, from terrible places, right? Places that are dirty, disgusting, full of crime and crime.”

Referring to piracy off the coast of Somalia, he added: “The only thing they (the Somalis) are good at is chasing ships.”

Last week, the US president called Somalis “invaders” during a cabinet meeting, saying: “They run and kill each other.”

Trump’s verbal attacks on Somalis intensified after a shooting in Washington last month that killed two National Guard soldiers. In that incident, an Afghan citizen was charged with murder, and Trump responded by promising to stop immigration from poor countries.
