Previously, Zionist sources pointed to the obvious tensions between Zamir and Israel Katz, the Israeli Minister of Defense, so much so that Netanyahu was forced to intervene to resolve these differences.
The root of these disputes goes back to dismissals and appointments in the Israeli army, which ultimately require the approval of the Minister of War.
The dispute between Katz and Zamir intensified after Katz ordered a re-examination of the Israeli army’s internal investigation into the failures of Operation Storming Al-Aqsa.
Katz also decided to suspend appointments to high-ranking positions in the regime’s military for 30 days, a move that Zamir described as political interference and a detriment to the regime’s military readiness.
