South Korea’s resigned defense minister attempts suicide.
South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, who resigned after South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol declared martial law, has committed suicide in custody, Yonhap reported.
Kim Yong-Hyun is currently being held under guard after the failed suicide attempt and is in stable condition, Yonhap reported.
The Seoul Central District Court issued an arrest warrant for the defense minister on charges of involvement in sedition and abuse of power after the failed martial law was declared in South Korea, which was lifted six hours later. He was the first official to be formally arrested after the recent political crisis in South Korea.
