Spanish Prime Minister: Israel is a genocidal state.
Following Sanchez’s remarks, the Israeli Foreign Ministry summoned Spanish Ambassador Anna Salomon.
Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema previously called on the Dutch government to take a firm stance against the destruction, starvation, and brutal killing of Palestinians in Gaza, stressing that Europe must support the Palestinians.
Halsema warned at the Amsterdam City Council meeting about double standards in dealing with human rights crises, saying: “The fate of the people of Gaza deeply affects many residents of the Dutch capital.”
Citing reports from the Netherlands National Institute for Security Studies and international human rights organizations, Halsema added: “Talking about genocidal violence in Gaza is not unreasonable, and it is time to put aside political differences and focus on saving lives.”
Stating that the international community, including the Netherlands, must stand up to the human rights violations committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza, he stressed: “I will send an official letter to the Dutch cabinet and ask them to put pressure on Israel to immediately stop the violence against the residents of Gaza.” The mayor of Amsterdam also called for practical measures from the Dutch government in this regard, adding: “Stating by the government about the need to stop the violence in Gaza without taking concrete and practical steps in this regard would be meaningless.”
