PNN – The New Speaker of the Parliament of Pakistan emphasized on using the Parliament’s capacity to help develop bilateral cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially in the economic field and said: Gas transmission pipeline from Iran is of vital importance to meet Pakistan’s energy needs.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met with Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam in Islamabad and the two sides exchanged views on the latest developments related to bilateral relations.
The Iranian ambassador congratulated Sardar Ayaz Sadegh on his election as the speaker of Pakistan’s parliament and expressed his hope that new avenues of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of parliamentary diplomacy, would be opened during Ayaz Sadegh’s tenure.
The Speaker of the Pakistani Parliament called for comprehensive cooperation and relations with Iran and added: the capacity of the parliaments of the two countries should be used to help strengthen the volume of trade and open economic cooperation.
Mentioning the importance of the geographical location of Iran and Pakistan in order to increase regional and international trade, he said: strengthening bilateral trade in common borders and addressing technical issues to expand economic cooperation is inevitable.

Ayaz Sadiq added that Pakistan welcomes the strengthening of economic cooperation with Iran, the exchange of trade and business delegations, especially the interaction between the private and public sectors.
He emphasized that the joint gas project with Iran is considered very important to meet Pakistan’s energy needs.
The ambassador of Iran also expressed his satisfaction with the successful holding of the recent elections in Pakistan and the formation of the new government, and announced the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to activate parliamentary friendship groups, cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries in important regional and international forums, strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and exchanging delegations.
Amiri Moghadam considered the upcoming visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Ebrahim Raisi to Pakistan as important to help strengthen bilateral cooperation in the commercial and economic fields.
He emphasized on using the capacity of parliaments to develop economic relations, increasing the volume of bilateral trade, increasing border trade, opening a banking channel to increase bilateral trade, activating the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project, and activating the private sectors of the two countries in trade.
