Speculations about Saudi Arabia’s crown prince’s visit to Pakistan next week

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from Pakistani media, the government of this country is trying to finalize the programs related to hosting the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, to the extent that the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif, is personally overseeing these programs. And he even stayed in Islamabad to deal with this trip and sent his deputy to Gambia to participate in the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

This will be the first visit of the Saudi Crown Prince to Pakistan in the last five years. He last traveled to Islamabad in February 2019. Bin Salman was supposed to visit Pakistan last year as part of his regional tours, but the visit was canceled at the last minute.

Diplomatic sources in Islamabad said: In this trip, the third official meeting between Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will take place in a period of five weeks. Earlier, the Prime Minister of Pakistan went to Saudi Arabia on his first foreign trip (in the last days of Ramadan) and met the Saudi Crown Prince. Shahbaz Sharif went to Riyadh on the 8th of May this year and met with Mohammad bin Salman during the World Economic Forum.

According to reports, before the upcoming visit of the Saudi crown prince to Islamabad, the ministers of commerce and oil of Pakistan are going to Saudi Arabia to hold consultations to finalize new trade and investment contracts with the Saudi side.

The Saudi Crown Prince’s visit is planned as recent interactions between the two countries have increased since the new Pakistani government took office. News sources announced that the final date of the Saudi Crown Prince’s visit is under review and probably next week, Riyadh will announce the final date of his visit to Islamabad.

The visits of officials of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to each other’s capitals have reached their peak in recent weeks. After Shahbaz Sharif’s visit to Saudi Arabia in mid-April, a high-ranking Saudi delegation headed by the country’s foreign minister was sent to Islamabad.

After that, in the middle of April, the Prime Minister of Pakistan left for Saudi Arabia. Riyadh has also sent its high-level investment delegation to Islamabad to explore ways of investing in Pakistan.

A delegation of Pakistani ministers, including the Minister of Oil and Energy, is scheduled to leave for Saudi Arabia later this week.

Pakistani media reports that the upcoming visit of the Saudi Crown Prince will focus on large investment in Pakistan and Islamabad is trying to achieve the understanding of the meeting between the heads of the two countries in Mecca to attract Saudi Arabian investment in Pakistan worth 5 billion dollars.
