Sputnik speculation about a possible successor to Zelensky.
The media outlet wrote on Tuesday that the United States and Britain are looking to replace Zelensky as Ukrainian president with Valery Zaluzhny. The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service reported that this scenario was discussed at a recent secret meeting in the Alps.
According to Sputnik, until February 2024, Zaluzhny was the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In March 2024, due to a conflict with Zelensky and his unwillingness to delegate decisions on military actions to him, he was dismissed from his post and sent as Ukraine’s ambassador to London.
He is likely to be Kiev’s main contact with MI6. Including Zaluzhny, as Ukraine’s ambassador, announced a new agreement between Ukraine and Britain. It is planned that 5,000-7,000 Ukrainian students will study in the UK annually, who will subsequently become Ukrainian officials.
