PNN – Simultaneously with the continuation of the political crisis in Sudan, “Martin Griffiths”, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs, warned about the humanitarian disaster in this country and announced that five million Sudanese are facing the risk of starvation.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Reuters news agency added: In a letter sent by the UN Deputy Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs to the Security Council of this organization, he warned that in the coming months, nearly five million Sudanese in parts of this war-torn country will face the risk of catastrophic starvation.
Therefore, the Griffiths report wrote in a part of this warning letter: Without immediate humanitarian aid and access to basic goods, nearly five million people in the war-torn parts of this country will face food insecurity in the coming months.
Nearly 730,000 children across Sudan are also expected to suffer from acute malnutrition, including more than 240,000 in Darfur.

Previously, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs launched a call to collect 4.1 billion dollars to meet the needs of millions of war-torn and displaced Sudanese inside the country.
“Martin Griffiths, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, also said: 10 months of war and strife in Sudan has destroyed all the assets of the people of this country, including their houses, health and livelihood routes.
Armed conflicts in Sudan between the army under the command of “Abd al-Fattah al-Barhan” and the rapid support forces under the command of “Mohammed Hamdan Daghlo” over the power of initiation and international mediations to end it and sit the conflicting parties at the negotiating table have not been fruitful so far.
During this period, sometimes very heavy battles have been going on between the two sides, which have caused the death of several thousand Sudanese and the displacement and abandonment of about three million other people.
