Strengthening relations and the Palestinian issue; The focus of the meeting of heads of Arab countries in China

PNN – China will host a 5-day meeting with the presence of heads of Arab countries in order to strengthen relations with these countries, increase cooperation in the West Asian region and address the Palestinian issue.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying announced in a statement that from May 28 to June 1, the leaders of Bahrain, Egypt, Tunisia and the UAE will visit the country at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Referring to the presence of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, President of Egypt Abdel Fattah Sisi, President of Tunisia Qais Said and President of the UAE Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in this meeting, Hua Chunying said that they attended the opening ceremony of the 10th Ministerial Conference of China Cooperation Association.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li told a news conference in Beijing that on Thursday, Xi will attend the summit and give an important speech.

The senior official of the Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that Xi will also hold talks with the heads of four countries to exchange views on bilateral and regional relations and international issues.

Deng said that the meeting aims to deepen “consensus between China and Arab countries” and will be chaired by senior diplomat Wang Yi and his Mauritanian counterpart. He said they will also issue a joint statement on the Palestinian issue.

In recent years, China has sought to establish closer relations with Arab countries. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang met with Sisi in Cairo in January during a trip to West Asia and said relations had reached their “best level” in history.

The meeting with the heads of Arab countries in Beijing takes place while China is trying to present itself as a mediator in the Palestinian issue. China has historically been sympathetic to the cause of Palestine and supports the so-called two-state solution to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Xi has called for an “international peace conference” to resolve the war.

In November, Beijing hosted a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Palestinian Authority, Indonesia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan to discuss the current “de-escalation”.
