Sullivan admits: Iran has not sought to build nuclear weapons

PNN – Acknowledging that Iran is not trying to build a nuclear bomb, the National Security Adviser of the White House claimed that after the recent conflict between Tehran and Tel Aviv, Iran has adopted new positions in this field.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Associated Press news agency today quoted the words of “Jake Sullivan” and wrote: “I have not seen a decision by Iran to move (toward the construction of nuclear weapons).

Sullivan told reporters at the Aspen Security Forum: “If they start moving in that direction, they’re going to have a serious problem with America.”

Sullivan claimed that the US has noticed an “increase in public comments by Iranian officials about the possibility (of building nuclear weapons)” since the counterattacks between Iran and Israel.

He said: These (words) were new and attracted our attention.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken also said in this security meeting that Washington prefers a diplomatic solution to Iran’s nuclear issue.

While criticizing the actions of the previous American government and withdrawing from the JCPOA, he said: Since the administration of Joe Biden took office, we have been trying to pursue nuclear diplomacy with Iran again, because if at least one problem is removed, which is that Iran does not have nuclear weapons, then this is basically a good thing.

Blinken reiterated that the US will not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons, but still prefers the diplomatic way to prevent this.

After coming to power in January 2021, the democratic government of Joe Biden condemned the unilateral action of the former government of this country to withdraw from the agreement with Iran and the 5+1 group, but it has continued the maximum pressure policies of the Donald Trump administration. In fact, experience has shown that despite the claims of diplomacy, the White House does not have the necessary will to make a decision to return to the JCPOA and compensate for the failed policy of the former President Trump’s administration against Iran.

As a responsible country, Iran has always declared that it is ready to conclude a stable and reliable agreement that will remove the sanctions in a guaranteed way and will not remain as a lever of pressure to be used against Iran in the future.

Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, recently admitted that the desired level of inspection of Iran’s nuclear facilities by this organization is the limit agreed upon in the JCPOA. Iranian officials also emphasize that Grossi can play an effective role in removing the pressure lever and “removing the obstacles that are mainly political” in order to resume the full implementation of the JCPOA.
