Survey The American people do not want a candidate with a criminal record or an old one.
The results of a new Gallup survey show that most Americans do not support a candidate who has a criminal conviction or is over 80 years old.
In this survey, voters’ views on voting for a person based on different characteristics and qualifications, even if the party of their choice, nominated that person as the party’s candidate.
Accordingly, 62 percent of respondents said they would not support a candidate charged with some criminal offense, and 70 percent said they would not support a candidate convicted of a felony.
Similarly, 66 percent of respondents would not vote for a candidate older than 80 years.
Gallup paid attention to the issue of age in this survey because US President Joe Biden the leading candidate of the Democrats for the 2024 election is currently 81 years old, and if he comes to power again, he will be at the end of his presidency. He will be 86 years old.
The survey also showed that American voters are less against candidates over 70 years old. 35% of people do not support a candidate who is more than 70 years old, while 63% support a candidate in this age category.
Donald Trump, the leading Republican candidate in the 2024 election, is also 77 years old.
In addition, Gallup has raised questions about the criminal acts of the candidates because Donald Trump is currently facing several criminal charges, some of which may be decided before the election in November of this year.
In addition, this poll showed that if Biden and Trump were presented as the possible candidates of their party, American voters would be faced with a choice between two very opposite characteristics.
Gallup also found in this poll that Democrats are less likely to oppose a candidate over the age of 80, and this is likely due to efforts made to re-elect Biden. Similarly, Republicans are less likely to oppose a candidate with a criminal record, likely due to the criminal charges facing Republican front-runner Donald Trump.
