Taliban leader: End of US occupation will restore security to Afghanistan; Palestine will also be liberated.

Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban government, stated on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the group’s victory and the end of the presence of American forces in Afghanistan.

In this message, he called the US defeat “a great victory of the Mujahideen with divine help” and said: “After several decades, nationwide security has been established in Afghanistan and the people have been saved from corruption, oppression, drugs, theft, and plunder in the light of Islamic law.”

The Taliban leader emphasized that this victory was the result of “the sacrifices and dedication of martyrs, prisoners, and disabled people of jihad” and that their families should always be supported.

He called on Taliban government officials to serve the “Islamic system and the welfare of the people” and to refrain from using the title “supervisor” for ministers.

In another part of his statement, Haibatullah Akhundzada asked God for victory and liberation for the Muslims of the world, especially the Palestinian people, and said: “Just as God granted victory to the Mujahideen of Afghanistan, He will also grant victory to Palestine.”

The Taliban took control of Kabul on August 15, 2021, with the withdrawal of American forces and the collapse of the former Afghan government. This day is named “Victory Day” by the Taliban and is commemorated every year with various statements and ceremonies.

This year, the Taliban leader’s statement was released at the same time as the conflicts in Gaza and the West Bank escalated, reflecting the political and ideological connection to the Palestinian issue.
