Tehran, Islamabad speed up free trade deal.

Mohammad Mudassar Tipu, in a message a few hours ago, announced promising developments regarding the exploitation of the trade potential between Iran and Pakistan, which had been discussed in recent bilateral interactions.

He announced that both sides are accelerating the implementation of the Pakistan-Iran Free Trade Agreement, and the barter mechanism will be operational soon.

The Pakistani ambassador added that a 12-member Iranian delegation will travel to Pakistan to participate in the International Agro-Food Industries and Food Exhibition to be held in Karachi from Tuesday, November 11. The Pakistani embassy’s Trade and Investment Counselor will accompany the Iranian representatives on this trip.

He said that the technical teams of Iran and Pakistan are working closely to facilitate transit trade for exporters of the two countries.

Mohammad Mudassar stated that Iran looks forward to the presence of officials from the Pakistani chambers of commerce in the 13th International Iran Mode Exhibition to be held in Tehran from January 2 to 5, 2026. We encourage Pakistani businessmen to participate in this forum.

The Pakistani ambassador to Tehran concluded by saying: Both sides are also improving border facilities to increase mutual trade.

According to IRNA, in early November of this year, during a meeting with the Iranian ambassador in Islamabad, the Pakistani commerce minister announced that the text of the free trade agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran was under internal review and would soon be submitted to the Pakistani cabinet for approval. He said: We call for increased exchange of high-level delegations between the two countries to achieve common interests.
